Bertans and VEF welcome Bonn for a spicy BCL restart
Three-point specialist VEF Riga welcome 2023 Basketball Champions League champs Telekom Baskets Bonn to the Arena Riga as they prepare for a sixth consecutive participation.
The Latvian outfit had to part ways with rebound specialist Arnaldo Toro Barea, and they replaced him with big man Jaquan Lawrence.
The former Traiskirchen player is joined by a fresh new lineup, expected to be led by Harrison Cleary who crossed the Baltic sea from Finnish outfit Lahti, Gage Davis-McMurrin, and Ukranian ex Prometey Vyacheslav Bobrov.
The only starting member that took part in the 2023-24 season with VEF is Latvian legend Dairis Bertans.
On the other hand, Bonn looked Stateside to strengthen their backcourt, which will be completely fresh: Darius McGhee signed from Liberty University in the NCAA, and Phlandrous Fleming Jr. arrives from Takeover in The Basketball Tournament.
The diminutive point guard (Bonn have an affinity with such players) had a lightning fast start to his BCL career, with a 37-point eruption against Andorra. Who will prevail at the Arena Riga?
