Matt Lewis explodes for 22 points in Le Mans comeback over Peristeri

It’s a tough loss to take for Peristeri bwin as they blow a 15-point lead to a resilient Le Mans Sarthe. The team coached by legend Vassilis Spanoulis led the game for 25 minutes before succumbing to the French side’s comeback in the third and fourth quarters. 

Matt Lewis was key with 22 points coming off the bench on a perfect night from the field (7/7, 4/4 from deep and 4/4 free throws). DeVante’ Jones was his usual self, adding 20 points and 5 dimes, while Tyran De Lattibeaudiere scored 15 points, leading his team with a +17 plus/minus. 

Hands and Dangubic’s 15 points, combined with Joe Ragland’s 10 points and assists double-double weren’t enough for the Greeks, who need a miracle to achieve anything more than third place in Group A of the BCL. 

Peristeri bwin had started well, building up a 15-point after Nate Renfro blocked Narace and converted a layup on the other end (29-15) with 8 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter.  

Le Mans reacted quickly, getting back within touching distance when DeVante’ Jones grabbed a board after Williams' miss and led the transition, assisting a red-hot Matt Lewis for the three-pointer (34-33) with 30 seconds to go in the first half. 

A back-and-forth third quarter led to Le Mans' decisive 8-1 run, capped off by Tyran De Lattibeaudiere’s layup after Mawugbe’s offensive rebound to secure a comfortable 73-84 lead for the visitors. 

If Unicaja beat Szombathely, Peristeri will lock in third place, opening up the possibility of a “civil war” against Promitheas Patras in the play-ins.
