Kuzminskas erupts with 21 points in 21 minutes to secure top spot for AEK

AEK Betsson BC rewrote their record for most points in a BCL game as they swept through Dinamo Sassari 110-79 in a game where their depth was in full display.

The Queen secured the top spot in Group D and will progress directly to the 2nd round. Joan Plaza’s players stepped on the hardwood determined to set the tone straight from the start, and went off a complete annihilation of Sassari as they proceeded to lead for 38 minutes, allowing the visitors only one lead (4-5) before running away with the contest.

AEK BC finished the first half with a resounding 31-18 score, and went on to win every single quarter. The Greeks showcased their depth and offensive fluidity, with 33 assists (only 3 other teams managed to reach this milestone, per Opta) and 110 points.

AEK’s perimeter pressure ensured they forced 21 turnovers, fueling 30 fast break points compared to Sassari’s 10. Justin Tillman was outstanding again, scoring 17 points as the home side proceeded to dominate the paint 44-26.

However, Mindaugas Kuzminskas stood out in this matchup: the Lithuanian scored 21 points with 9/13 from the field, his BCL career high in just 21 minutes of game time.

For the visitors, Breein Tyree kept his good form with 21 points in 31 minutes of play, and Alessandro Cappelletti added 17 on 6/7 from the field. However, there was no way of matching AEK Betsson BC on their historical night.
